What this site is

Elder Care Cost Guide is an independent reference site. It publishes published cost figures for US elder care — in-home care, adult day health care, assisted living and nursing homes — and calculators built on top of those figures, together with plain-language guides to how programmes such as Medicare and Medicaid treat that care.

Every figure is attributed to the survey or agency that published it, and the rules we work to are documented on our methodology page.

It is not professional advice

Nothing here is medical, legal, tax or financial advice, and nothing here is a determination of anyone's eligibility for a benefit. Cost figures are medians: a median is not a quote, and a state median is not a price for a particular community. Decisions about care, coverage or spending should be made with a qualified professional and with the agency or provider involved.

Using and citing the numbers

You are welcome to cite the figures on this site in articles, reports and presentations, provided you name the source and link to the page you used. Where we publish a derived figure — a monthly rate calculated from a published daily or hourly rate, for example — the method is stated on the methodology page so the same calculation can be checked.

You may not republish this site in bulk, mirror it, or resell its data as your own. That includes automated copying of full pages and redistribution of the compiled dataset.

Accuracy, and what happens when we are wrong

We aim to be accurate and to date every figure, but the site is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. Survey data can be revised; programmes and rates change. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page and include the page URL and the figure you believe is wrong. Corrections are made to the page and dated — we do not quietly overwrite numbers.

Advertising and third-party links

The site is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense, and it may contain affiliate links. Advertising is served by third parties, and those parties may set cookies as described in our privacy policy. Ads are not endorsements, and no advertiser reviews or approves our figures. Links to other sites are provided for reference; we do not control their content.

Messages you send us

If you use the contact form, we use what you send to answer you, and we may quote an error report — without your name or contact details — when we correct a page. We do not sell or publish your message or your contact details.

Changes

These terms may change as the site changes; the date at the top of this page is the date of the last revision. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the consumer law that applies to you.
